Aim of the project
The project aims to improve psychosocial care and well-being for children and adolescents aged 10 to 18 living in state-supervised youth rehabilitation centres in Damascus and the surrounding area. The project seeks to equip staff with structured, trauma-sensitive and age-appropriate methods while strengthening safeguarding, crisis management and referral practices.
Who will benefit?
Direct beneficiaries
Approximately 30 staff members working in the participating youth rehabilitation centres.
Indirect beneficiaries
Approximately 470 children and adolescents between the ages of 10 and 18, including around 70 girls and 400 boys.
What is planned?
- Conducting a structured needs analysis
- Developing a modular training curriculum
- Recruiting and preparing qualified trainers
- Delivering a six-module training programme with 20 learning units
- Providing practical guidance for daily work with children and adolescents
- Establishing structured group-based professional reflection and support
- Strengthening safeguarding, crisis-management and referral standards
- Monitoring and evaluating the project
- Conducting a final review and documenting lessons learned
Where we are now
The project is currently in preparation. Nafas members from PHB and Freie Universität Berlin have developed the project with Rahma Bila Hudood (RBH). The target settings and beneficiaries, curriculum framework, planned activities and implementation phases have been defined. The needs analysis, trainer recruitment and delivery of the programme have not yet started.
